We will be staying at the Sunset Motel at 523 S. Broad St. in Brevard, NC. The Sunset Motel is a small, quirky, retro establishment that we hope adds to the unique experience we want to give at each of our events. There are a limited number of rooms so make your reservation as soon as possible by going to their website: The Sunset Motel.

We will be concentrating our photography in the highlands of South Carolina and may move into in the Land of the Waterfalls, Transylvania County, NC. We will visit as many waterfalls as we can, which will include some hiking. We are hoping to see a variety of wildflowers and catch a sunrise or sunset as well. This will be a weekend full of photography and fun! We will be conducting field instruction sessions on a variety of topics while out shooting. We also plan to have discussion sessions in the evenings. If the weather cooperates, we will even try to shoot the stars!

We want this to be an enjoyable and relaxing experience filled with photography talk and learning, an open environment to ask whatever questions you have and to get some real world tips and techniques that you can apply whether you are shooting the latest DSLR or an iPhone or Android.

What To Bring:

  • camera gear including a tripod, your manual, and a range of lenses
  • any macro equipment you have such as lenses, extension tubes, magnifying filters, etc.
  • laptop (if you would like to)
  • Notebook/Paper and Pen/Pencil
  • Snacks & Drinks
  • Layers of clothing and rain gear (be prepared for anything)

We recommend bringing layers of clothing and rain gear. Though the weather will probably be warm, it can still be quite unpredictable. Please dress accordingly. We intend to spend long periods of time in the field exploring and shooting, so be prepared for changing temperatures and rain. We will continue to shoot in light rain and will wait out any heavy showers.
